About the Rescue
We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes in need.
El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue (EDCGSR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing a second chance for the abandoned, neglected, and unwanted dogs of our community. We house, vet, rehabilitate, and socialize German Shepherds and German Shepherd mixes to provide excellent companions for forever families who understand the unique qualities of this breed.
Our Reach
Through volunteer and community service programs, scout troops, elementary and high school students, and local businesses, EDCGSR reaches out to the public and advocates for spay/neuter and the care that abandoned animals need. In partnership with American River Canine, we offer training and rehabilitation programs and host monthly “pack walks” for dogs who need help with neutrality and socialization in a public setting under professional supervision.
Formed in 2003 and located in Shingle Springs, California, our organization serves El Dorado County and surrounding regions of northern California, including Sacramento, Amador, and Placer counties. Our supporters and the families that we support extend the rescue’s reach even further.
